As part of my Zenpeacemakers work I visit people in their final phase of their lives. The last 6 months I did visit Mr Marinus.
Marinus was during his working live a farmer, a very bright and intelligent person. Often people asked him “why don’t you go to university?” Marinus’ reply was “I’m a farmer and I always will be a farmer, that’s who I’am”.
During these last months Marinus suffered from Alzheimer’ decease. Sometimes he recalled my name, but often he forgot. But always, yes always, he gave me a bright smile when he saw me. A smile like a little child that truly enjoys the occasion.
On august 22nd Marinus passed away.
Thank you Marinus for every smile I received from you! May you have a swift passage to the other shore. _/\_
